A tarot deck built from three thousand real readings

보연타로 began in 2021 as a tarot and saju consultation café near Gojan Station in Ansan. Its founder, a certified myeongli counselor (명리상담지도사, Hanyang University), draws on Korean shamanic tradition and Saju philosophy — and on roughly 3,000 real client consultations — to build an interpretive system that can be taught, not just intuited.

Every one of the deck's 78 cards is illustrated by hand. Where a conventional tarot draws on Western esoteric imagery, the 보연타로 deck is organized around ideas that read naturally within Korean tradition: the twelve zodiac animals, the five cardinal directions, and recurring figures from folk belief.
